The Chippa people of Bagru, India, who have been involved in the art of cloth printing for more than 100 years, practise a type of hand block printing known as "Bagru print" using natural colours. These Bagru prints are well-known around the world. The original printing technique uses a wooden block. This procedure involves first engraving the required design on a wooden block, after which a carved block is used to transfer the design to cloth in the specified colour.
